07.17.2023 | Software release

The latest software release has rolled out to the driverless fleet, containing improvements in these areas:

  • Shipped trajectory generation improvements that increase assertiveness and improved braking behavior during lane changes, making the AV safer by 8% during lane changes in certain situations.

  • Improved AV behavior around stationary EMVs with adjacent open lanes where the AV and other traffic are expected to pass.

  • Stability improvements to minimize trip interruptions.

  • Improved pick-up and drop-off behavior around bike lanes

  • Shipped TSEL v18.1 with major improvements in making left and right turns. The AV makes decisive turns, creeps and yields for cross-traffic better, and can select the optimal turn timing. This release also improves assertiveness and timeliness in overtaking double parked vehicles (DPVs), decreasing the likelihood of prolonged interruptions.

  • Expanded AV ability to maneuver and park in tight space to improve overall navigation within our facilities

  • Improved camera-based detection of ultra-near objects, such as small debris, reducing unnecessary trip interruptions.

  • Shipped RadarRPN v2 (a Perception radar model), improving detection of  long distance objects >150m away by +4%.

  • Shipped DLA v6 (a Perception model), which improves detection of objects such as shopping carts, bikes without riders, and overhanging construction cranes by up to 24%.

  • Improved perception of overhanging tree branches and other vegetation above the AV, reducing unnecessary trip interruptions.

  • As part of shipping LPCv10, improved how the AV stops on steep roads, improving stationary safety and comfort while transitioning between stopped and moving.

  • As part of shipping LPCv10, the AV now brakes more smoothly at red lights and for other obstacles.

  • Expanded the situations where the car can resume after an interruption.

  • Allows our AVs to recover from tampering events.

Statistics measuring the percentage of improvement are based on internal benchmarks and metrics.
