This Privacy Statement (“Statement”) explains what information Cruise LLC or its affiliates (“Cruise” or “we”) collect during the application and recruitment process, how we use and disclose that information, and your rights regarding that information.
Scope
Cruise’s hiring process consists of multiple steps designed to evaluate your skills and qualifications for a particular position. When you choose to participate in the Cruise hiring process, Cruise may collect or obtain personal information about you. This information may include:
Name, address, email address, telephone number and other contact information
Resume or CV and employment history
Driving history (where applicable)
Voluntary demographic information, including gender, race, ethnicity, citizenship and/or nationality
Veteran status
Health information (only if required by law)
Government-issued ID (only where required by job responsibilities)
Cruise will use the information that it obtains or you provide to assist in our recruitment and hiring process, including the following:
Evaluating you for current and future job opportunities, including matching your skills and interests to applicable job requirements, conducting reference checks, conducting background checks consistent with applicable law, and subject to our discretion, making an offer to enter into an employment contract.
Communicating with you about your application and throughout the hiring process, such as responding to your inquiries and notifying you of applicable terms and policies, and contacting you about future career opportunities.
Complying with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes or government requests or inquiries, internal policies and other requirements such as record-keeping, equal employment opportunity laws, work permit and immigration regulations, reporting obligations, and the exercise or defense of legal claims.
Fulfilling administrative functions, such as receiving and processing job applications, conducting aggregate management reporting and statistical analyses, internal training, and as generally required to conduct our business.
Improving the candidate recruitment, selection, and/or hiring process, such as improving our application process, improving our hiring and/or recruitment processes, improving our diversity and inclusion efforts, and analyzing and monitoring the diversity of job applicants in accordance with applicable law.
Cruise may disclose information to the following types of entities or in the following circumstances (where applicable):
Internally between and among Cruise’s corporate parents and affiliates such as General Motors to carry out the purposes described in this Statement.
Service Providers such as recruiting, talent acquisition, employment screening and background check providers, consulting, auditors, expense management, and IT suppliers.
Legal compliance and exercising legal rights when required to do so by law, regulation, or court order or in response to a request for assistance from government authorities, and to seek legal advice from our external lawyers or in connection with litigation with a third party.
Business Transaction Purposes in connection with the sale, purchase, or merger of a business.
Note that if you are offered and accept employment with Cruise, information collected about you during the hiring process may become part of your employment record.
Applicant Obligations
Any information you submit to us must be true, complete and not misleading. Submitting inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information may lead to a rejection of your job application during the application process or disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination of employment. In addition, it is your responsibility to ensure that information you submit does not violate any third party’s rights. If you provide us with personal data of a reference or any other individual as part of your application, it is your responsibility to obtain consent from that individual prior to providing the information to us.
Diversity
In certain cases we will ask questions about race/ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, and disability of our job applicants, for monitoring equal opportunity. We may also inquire about criminal records, where permitted by applicable law. Otherwise, we ask that you avoid submitting information that may qualify as sensitive information under applicable law, except where such information is legally required. Data Retention and Deletion
We will retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this statement unless longer retention is required by law or for auditing purposes.

Additional Information Regarding California Residents
Pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (the “CCPA”), this Statement provides California residents who have currently or formerly participated in the Cruise job application or recruitment process with a description of our online and offline practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal data. Under the CCPA, “personal data” is information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be associated or linked with a particular California resident or household.
This section (“California Section”) supplements the Statement by providing additional information related to California residents who have participated in the Cruise job application or recruitment process. In the event of a conflict between the California Section and the Statement, this California Section will take priority for California residents.
Summary of CCPA Categories
The CCPA requires us to describe our data practices using a list of specific categories. The table below serves to organize this Statement by reference to those predefined categories plus other categories. It provides information about the categories we collect, as well as the business purposes for our collection, and the parties to whom we may disclose this data, as further described in the Statement above. Sensitive Personal Data
Certain information we collect may be considered “sensitive” personal data under California law. We may collect the following categories of sensitive personal data as necessary to conduct our relationship with you, in the following ways:
Social Security, driver’s license, state identification, and/or passport numbers, in connection with receiving and processing your job application, conducting background checks, fulfilling administrative functions, and for legal compliance.
Racial/ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, and/or disability status, for equal opportunity and diversity and inclusion purposes, improving the candidate recruitment, selection, and hiring processes, and compliance with applicable law or to exercise rights thereunder.
Health information, which may include disability status, to provide reasonable workplace accommodations in connection with receiving and processing your job application, and for legal compliance.
Sources of Personal Data
Cruise collects your personal data from multiple sources. We collect information that you provide directly to us. We also collect your personal data from our service providers, affiliates, references you provide, prior employers or schools, recruiting and consulting firms, background check providers, social media networks, publicly available databases, and cooperative databases.
Sale and Sharing of Personal Data
We do not “sell” and have not “sold” personal data collected from applicants and candidates as defined by the CCPA in the 12 months preceding the date this Statement was last updated. We do not “share” personal data we collect subject to this Statement for purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising, and have not “shared” personal data subject to this Statement as defined by the CPRA in the 12 months preceding the date this Statement was last updated.
Without limiting the foregoing, we do not “sell” or “share” the personal data of minors under 16 years of age as defined by the CCPA.
Your Rights
Request to Access: You have the right to request that we inform you of the personal data we hold about you and obtain a copy of it, including:
The categories of personal data we collected about you in the 12 months preceding your request and the categories of sources from which we collected such personal data;
The business or commercial purpose for collecting personal data about you;
The categories of personal data about you that we disclosed, and the categories of other parties to whom we disclosed, such personal data disclosed such personal data in the 12 months preceding your request
Request to Correct: You have the right to request the correction of inaccurate personal data about you.
Request to Delete: You have the right to request that we delete the personal data we have collected from you in some circumstances as defined by law. Following your request for deletion, please be aware that certain information that we collect from you may still be retained for hiring management and planning purposes, fulfilling record keeping and reporting functions, to otherwise complete and process any prior applications or transactions that you began prior to requesting a deletion, and for legal, security, or other allowed reasons.
We may decline to process requests which are not otherwise required by applicable law. You have the right not to be unlawfully discriminated against because you have exercised these rights. After you submit a request, we will verify and respond to your request consistent with applicable law, taking into account the type and sensitivity of the personal data subject to the request. We may need to request additional personal data from you, such as the email address, phone number, and/or job title associated with your application in order to verify your identity and protect against fraudulent requests. If you make a request to delete, we may ask you to confirm your request before we delete your personal data.
We will verify and respond to your request consistent with applicable law.
Authorized Agents
For an authorized agent to make a request as permitted by applicable law, the agent may visit our Privacy Requests page, or contact Customer Service toll free at 1-888-914-9661 [PIN: 159159]. As part of our verification process, we may request that the agent provide, as applicable, proof concerning his or her status as an authorized agent. In addition, we may require that you verify your identity as described in the section entitled “Your Rights” or confirm that you provided the agent permission to submit the request.
Retention
We retain your personal data, including Sensitive Personal Information, for as long as it may be necessary for us to satisfy the purposes outlined in this Statement, including compliance with legal obligations and resolution of disputes, unless longer retention is required by law or for auditing purposes. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include:
The duration of the job application process;
Whether your job application is successful and you become an employee;
Whether, if your application is not successful, you would like to be notified of future job opportunities with us or our affiliates;
Whether we have an ongoing relationship with you and the period of time thereafter during which we may have a legitimate need to reference your personal data to address issues that may arise;
Whether we are subject to any legal obligation to retain data (for example, certain laws may require us to keep your application records for a certain period of time); and
Whether it is advisable for us to retain data to protect our legal interests (such as in regard to applicable statutes of limitations, litigation or regulatory investigations).
De-Identified Information
Where we maintain or use de-identified information, we will continue to maintain and use the de-identified information only in a de-identified fashion and will not attempt to re-identify the information.
