Cruise Referral Program Terms & Conditions

We want you to spread the word about Cruise! Cruise’s Referral Program (the “Program”) allows registered Cruise users to earn rewards for future rides by referring friends to sign up for Cruise.  

By participating in Cruise’s Referral Program (the “Program”), you agree to be bound by these Referral Program Terms and Conditions (“Referral Terms”), as well as Cruise’s Terms of Service. The Cruise Privacy Policy applies to all data processed in relation to participation in the Program.  

In these Referral Program Terms, we refer to Cruise as “us,” “we,” or “Cruise.” Users who refer are called “Referrers” and individuals who receive a referral are called “Referred Friends.” These terms are effective as of the date these terms were last revised.

Referral Program Overview  

We want you to spread the word about Cruise by distributing your unique referral code to your friends, family and social networks, which will provide them with a discount opportunity for their first ride (“Referral Promo”). In return, you can earn rewards (“Referral Reward”) when your Referred Friends complete their first ride. Keep reading for eligibility requirements and additional details.

Referrer Eligibility

To be eligible for the Program as a Referrer you must:

  • Be an individual (e.g., not a corporation) participating for your own benefit, and not on behalf of an employer or other third party

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Be a registered Cruise user with an account in good standing

  • Not be a professional affiliate marketer

Referred Friend Eligibility

To be eligible to be referred, a Referred Friend must: 

  • Be an individual

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Not have completed a ride using their Cruise account

How to Refer Friends and Get Rewards 

 Here’s how you can refer a friend and earn rewards:

  • While signed in to your Cruise account, visit the “Refer Friends” section of the Cruise app.

  • Follow the instructions in the app to receive a unique Cruise referral promo code that is specific to you and only you (your “Referral Code”).  

  • Share your Referral Code with your family, friends, and anyone else that wants to experience our all-electric, autonomous vehicle experience. To receive the maximum benefits of your referrals, please check out Sharing Referral Codes Transparently and Fairly, below. 

  • For each eligible Referred Friend that (1) registers for a Cruise account, (2) applies your Referral Code to their first ride, and (3) completes this ride within the Referral Promo expiration date (collectively, a “Qualified Referral”), you’ll receive a Referral Reward (see About Referral Rewards section below for details).  

  • You will know if you received a Referral Reward when it appears in the “Promos” section of the Payments page within the Cruise app.

About Referral Rewards

Referrers and Referred Friends can find estimates of the potential Referral Rewards and Referral Promos they may receive for a Qualified Referral within the Cruise app. These estimates are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the location of the Referrer or Referred Friend at the time of their first ride, account creation, or app download. Please note that these estimates may not always align with the actual Referral Reward or Referral Promo issued due to variations by market.

Cruise will determine the actual value of any Referral Reward or Referral Promo based on a good-faith calculation of a number of factors. These final amounts will be visible to the Referrer and the Referred Friend when the Referral Rewards or Referral Promos are applied to their respective accounts.

Sharing Referral Codes Fairly and Transparently

In sharing your Referral Code, you must at all times remain compliant with CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and any other applicable laws and regulations. Additional rules for sharing your Referral Codes fairly and transparently are as follows:

  • Do not publish or distribute Referral Codes on websites or other locations where this activity is prohibited. 

  • Do not “spam” anyone with Referral Codes. This includes mass emailing, texting, or messaging people you do not know or using automated systems, scripts or bots through any channel to distribute your Referral Code. You cannot pay anyone to advertise your Referral Code. You may not post Referral Codes on pages owned by others without express permission from those owners. 

  • Do not lie or misrepresent Cruise, any other third party, or your experience or relationship with either when sharing a Referral Code. This includes implying that an affiliation or partnership exists between you and such parties where it does not.

Program Limitations

The Program is void where prohibited by law.

Referral Rewards expire 30 days after the Qualified Referral date, unless otherwise specified in the Cruise app at the time of applying the Referral Code. The “Promos” section of the Payments page within the Cruise app will show any Referral Rewards and Referral Promos that have been earned, along with their expirations dates.

Referral Rewards and Referral Promos not used before their expiration date shall be forfeited. Cruise is not responsible for expired or otherwise unused Referral Rewards. 

Referred Friends can only use Referral Codes once, and you can only receive one Referral Reward per Qualified Referral.  

You will only receive a Referral Reward if your Referred Friend uses your Referral Code for their first ride.  If a Referred Friend receives Referral Codes from multiple Cruise users, only the user associated with the Referral Code actually applied to the ride by the Referred Friend will receive a Referral Reward.

Any rewards will be revoked if a refund is issued on the ride for which the reward was offered.

Individuals may not exceed 1,000 Referral Rewards earned per calendar year. Referral Rewards you receive and your account under the Program are personal to you and may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with, family, friends, or anyone else (unless otherwise approved by Cruise in writing).  

Referrers may not refer themselves, establish false, duplicative or “dummy” accounts (such as through using or generating additional email addresses or phone numbers), or register accounts on behalf of other people to earn Referral Rewards.

Every Qualified Referral is subject to independent verification by Cruise and Cruise’s representatives.  Cruise has sole discretion in setting the amount of Referral Promos and Referral Awards, and the amount can change at any time. You agree to provide us with information reasonably necessary to verify compliance with these Referral Terms. All decisions regarding Referral Promos, Qualified Referrals, or your participation in the Program will be final and at our sole discretion.  

Your participation in the Program is subject to your compliance with the Referral Terms, our Terms of Service, any additional policies or requirements posted by Cruise during or after the Program, and all applicable laws and regulations. 

Cruise reserves the right to suspend your participation in the Program and withhold or deduct Referral Rewards or Referral Promos obtained through the Referral Program in the event that Cruise determines or believes, in its sole discretion, that a Referral Reward or Referral Promo was in error, fraudulent, illegal, abusive or in violation or against the spirit of these Referral Terms, the Cruise Terms of Service, or any other applicable agreement between Referrer, Referred Friends, and Cruise.

We may modify, suspend, or terminate the Program or your ability to participate in it at any time and for any reason.

Updates to these Terms 

We reserve the right to modify these Referral Terms at any time in our sole discretion. If we amend these Referral Terms, we will post the updated version on this page  and/or otherwise notify you as required by law. Continued participation in the Program after any modification will constitute consent to such modification.

Miscellaneous

These Referral Terms, in conjunction with the Cruise Terms of Service, constitute the entire agreement and understanding between you and Cruise with respect to the Program and supersedes all other communications, whether oral or written, between the parties with respect to such subject matter. 

You may not assign these Referral Terms without Cruise’s prior written consent.  

Subject to the foregoing restriction, these Referral Terms will be binding on, inure to, and be enforceable against the parties and their respective successors and assigns.  

Cruise’s failure to enforce your strict performance of any provision of these Referral Terms will not constitute a waiver of Cruise’s right to enforce such provision or any other provision of these Terms.
